Calgary Roughnecks Fall to Colorado Mammoth 13-10

Denver, CO - The Calgary Roughnecks were defeated by the Colorado Mammoth 13-10 Saturday night at Ball Arena in their only meeting this regular season.

Jesse King opened the scoring for Calgary however Colorado would take the lead scoring three consecutive goals to end the first quarter. The Roughnecks answered with three of their own in the first few minutes of the second, from Thomas Hoggarth (shorthanded), Dan Taylor, and Haiden Dickson. The Mammoth would net another two before Hoggarth scored his second of the night for Calgary to leave the score at 5-5 heading into halftime.

A spirited battle between the two teams in the third quarter saw three goals fall for Colorado while Calgary answered with two from Shane Simpson and Dickson. The home side came out strong in the first minutes of the final frame, netting three consecutive goals to take a 11-7 lead. Despite two back-to-back powerplay goals from Tanner Cook and Simpson, Calgary were unable to make up the difference, with Colorado netting a further two goals and Hoggarth notching a final shorthanded goal for Calgary to leave the score at 13-10.

Jesse King continued his point streak, recording six points from six assists and in doing so reached 400 career points. Thomas Hoggarth reached his 100-goal milestone tonight, notching a hattrick to take him to 101 in his career. Zach Currier had a strong outing tonight for Calgary, scooping 16 loose balls and going 6-16 at the faceoff. Christian Del Bianco made 37 stops in net, as the Roughnecks were outshot by Colorado 50-47.

The Roughnecks now sit through another bye week before returning home to Calgary for a double-header weekend on WestJet Field. The Riggers host the New York Riptide on Friday February 2nd for their Every Child Matters game, and on Saturday the 3rd host the Toronto Rock for the SuperHero Party presented by Pete the Plumber.
