Coquitlam Connection in Warriors Clash with Rush

The Vancouver Warriors (1-4) travel to Saskatchewan to take on the Rush in Week 8 of NLL action.

Saskatchewan Rush (1-3) had their game against the Philadelphia Wings postponed to January 13th due to extreme weather conditions that impacted travel.

Victoria native Zach Manns leads his team with 23 points (13-10-23) over four games while Ryan Keenan and Coquitlam's Robert Church each have 21 points on the year - 10 goals and 11 assists for Church, and six goals and 15 assists for Keenan.

The last game for the Rush was New Year's Eve, suffering an overtime loss 11-10 against the top team in the NLL, the Albany FireWolves (6-0). Manns led the way for Saskatchewan with three goals and three assists, Keenan chipped in a hat trick of his own, and Church contributed one goal and three assists.

The Coquitlam connection is strong with the Rush, another product from the City, goaltender Frank Scigliano, made a season-high 46 saves and a .791 save percentage.

The Warriors are on a three-game losing skid, looking for their first win since December 16th against the Georgia Swarm.

Warriors' defenceman Ryan Dilks faces his former team, spending seven seasons with the Rush and winning a trio of championships in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Five other Warriors are former Rush including Matt Beers, Aaron Bold, Brett Mydske, Riley Loewen, and John Lintz.

Forward Adam Charalambides has 22 points for the Warriors this season (11-11-22) and has collected 27 loose balls. Keegan Bal and Ryan Martel each have 20 points through five games, five goals and 15 assists for Bal and eight goals and 12 assists for Martel.

The Warriors dropped their Week 7 game to the Calgary Roughnecks 14-7 at Rogers Arena. Vancouver put together a stronger second half against Calgary, but the Roughnecks scored five unanswered second quarter goals and the Warriors didn't make up the difference.

Martel led the way for Vancouver with three points, two goals and an assist. Adam Charalambides, Riley Loewen, Kevin Crowley, Jackson Suboch and Kyle Killen all chipped in a goal each.

Aaron Bold turned aside 19 shots and Aden Walsh stopped 11 shots he faced in the loss.
