
Calgary Roughnecks Announce Protected Expansion Draft List

Calgary, AB - Calgary Roughnecks Kurt Silcott today announced the protected player list for the 2007 expansion draft to be held on July 12, 2006 at 4pm EST via conference call.
The Expansion Draft consists of 11 rounds with the first selection going to the Chicago Shamrox. New York won a coin toss at the League's Board of Governors meetings held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. New York chose to take the first selection in the 2006 Entry Draft giving the Chicago Shamrox's the first section in the Expansion Draft. Details surrounding the Entry Draft will be announced at a later date.
Each club may protect 14 players and not team will be allowed to lose more than the number of expansion teams entering the draft. Clubs may choose to protect (1) goalie and (13) players or (2) goalies and (10) players. Each club shall be entitled to protect an additional player for each player taken in the expansion draft.
