Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland Winterhawks forward Sven Bartschi has signed a three year entry level contract with the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames, who drafted him 13th overall in last month's NHL Entry Draft.
Bartschi signed the contract today while attending Calgary's development camp.
"Signing a pro contract is a big milestone for young players, and we're very happy for Sven. He's worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and he has a bright future ahead of him," said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston.
Bartschi was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Year after leading all WHL rookies with 34 goals and 51 assists for 85 points last season. He then added 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 21 playoff games. Bartschi also competed for his native Switzerland at the World Junior Championship, where he had a goal and an assist in helping them to a fifth place finish.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now. Fans can call 503-236-HAWK or email seats@winterhawks.com to book their seats.
