NHL Summer Camping

National Hockey League Development Camps are starting up across North America. So far 7 players who played for the Pats will be off camping:

Free Agent Frenzy

The NHL Free Agency period began this past weekend and a pair of former Pats found themselves with new deals:

Josh Harding - 1yr, $750k with the Minnesota Wild

Rick Rypien - 1yr, $700k with the Winnipeg Jets

Garnet Exelby - 1yr, (terms undisclosed) with the Detroit Red Wings

Logan Pyett - 1yr, (terms undisclosed) with the Detroit Red Wings

CHL Import Draft

With the 9th pick overall, the Regina Pats selected high touted forward, Dominik Volek from the Czech Republic. The 17 year old forward averages almost a goal a game for the Czech Republic at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge this past spring. He's the son of former New York Islander Forward David Volek.

Chandler to U-18 Camp

Regina Pats 17 year old forward, Chandler Stephenson has been selected to Canada's World U-18 Summer Selection Camp. This is in preparation for the team that will take part in the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka from August 8th-13th. The camp is in Calgary beginning July 30th at the Father David Bauer Arena.

Looking Ahead

Wickenheiser Golf Classic

The 14th annual Wickenheiser Golf Classic is set to go on Monday, August 22nd at the Wascana Golf and Country Club. The entry fee is just $300 and it includes golf, cart, steak dinner, all on course contesting, mulligans, and best of all a swag bag jammed full of memorabilia. Call the Pats office at 522-5604 to register yourself or a team.

Training Camp 2011

The long road that is the WHL season begins on the week of August 22nd with the beginning of Pats Training Camp 2011. It will be a heated competition as players will be strutting their stuff for the first time in front of a new coaching staff. Confirmed dates and times will be announced later this summer

2011-12 Home Opener

The Pats will kick off the 2011-12 WHL Regular Season on Friday September 23rd at the Brandt Centre as they host Winnipeg Jets 3rd round pick, Adam Lowry and his Swift Current Broncos. Puck drops at 7pm.

In his 1st season of major midget hockey, Kyle was the BCMML's top scoring defenceman with 36 points.Played in the BCMML All-Star Game.Named the Valley West Hawks Top Defenceman and MVP.Had a goal for Valley West at the 2010 Mac's Midget Tournament in Calgary.had a goal and seven assists helping Team BC to gold at the Canada Winter Games.Made his WHL debut on March 18th, 2010 against the Saskatoon Blades at the Brandt Centre in Regina.took part in Team BC's Male U-17 BC Cup in May.
