Montreal Alouettes News Release

Receiver Ben Cahoon caught the 1,007th pass of his career Monday afternoon during the fourth quarter against the Calgary Stampeders at Percival Molson Stadium.

With that nine-yard catch, Cahoon is now the CFL's all-time receptions leader, passing former Alouette Terry Vaughn. Cahoon is in his 13th CFL season and has played in 221 games, all of which have been played in an Alouettes uniform.

His first career reception was thrown by Tracy Ham, a 15-yard pass against the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium, on July 31, 1998. Since that first reception, 16 players have thrown passes to Cahoon. Anthony Calvillo leads the pack with 896 completions.

Nine times during his career, Cahoon has had seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. He first accomplished the feat in 2000 and has since reached the millennium mark in eight consecutive seasons (2002-09). He has been named to the East Division All star team 10 times during his career and was named to the CFL all star team on three occasions. Twice, he was named the most valuable Canadian in the Grey Cup (2003 and 2009).

With his first reception of the game in the second quarter, Cahoon saw his streak of consecutive games with at least one catch reach 141, the second longest streak in CFL history.

Two weeks ago, Cahoon caught the 1,000th pass of his career against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg. He became only the second receiver in CFL history and the eighth in professional football to reach that milestone.
