
Butterbean to Fight at Wings Stadium

Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announce that the complex will host, for the second straight year, FIGHT NIGHT, with amateur fighting starting at 8pm on Friday, March 24th and professional matches starting at 8pm on Saturday March 25th. Tickets for this two-day boxing extravaganza will go on-sale this Tuesday, January 24th.
The March 24th event will feature local fighters. These participants will include residents from all walks of life in southwest Michigan. USA Boxing will sanction each bout.
All fighters will be between the ages of 17 and 34, and matched according to age, height, weight and boxing experience. All competitors must have at least 30 days of boxing training in order to participate. Each contestant will be required to wear headgear, groin and kidney protectors and boxing gloves (10 to 12 oz.) depending on the contestants' weight. Trained medical staff from USA Boxing will be at ringside at all times to ensure each participants safety. Pre-bout and post-fight physicals will be also given.
The March 25th event will feature professional fighters, headlined by world renowned fighter, Eric "Butterbean" Esch. Also appearing on the March 25th card will be Patrick Byrd, Dan "Mean Machine" Whetsel and George Sanchez to name a few. The Headline fight of the evening will feature Butterbean versus local favorite Dan White.
White, a former Battle Creek Central wrestling standout turned professional boxer, will take a 10-0 record into the fight against the "King of the Rounders", Butterbean.
"This is the biggest fight of his life," said promoter Greg Ahrens. "Dan will now take on Butterbean (whose been seen on various fight cards the past few years)." Butterbean weighs 385 pounds and is listed as a Super Heavyweight.
All bouts are promoted by TMS Fight Night and the professional matches will be sanctioned by The State of Michigan Board of Athletic Control. Card is subject to change.
Tickets, ranging from $20.50 - $75.50, go on-sale Tuesday, January 24 at 10am. Discounts are available. Tickets will be available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office (269) 345-5101, during regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10am-6pm or Saturday's from 10am-2pm. Individuals can also purchase their tickets at all Ticketmaster Outlets, Ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone by calling (269) 373-7000.
Anyone interested in competing can sign-up at Wings Stadium; applications will be in the Ticket Office.
Stadium Management Company owns both the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
