Riverdogs, Mechanics Conduct Trade

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond RiverDogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, have executed a trade that sends defenseman Ryan Van Buskirk to the Motor City Mechanics in exchange for rookie defenseman Henry Acres and future considerations.

Van Buskirk, a 6-2, 215 pound native of Sault Ste. Mare, ONT. , appeared in 23 games for the RiverDogs where he got a pair of assists for two points and 103 penalty minutes. Acres, a 5-10, 187 pound native of Qualicum Beach, BC, is in his first full season of pro hockey. With Motor City, Henry has potted 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points, 22 penalty minutes in 33 games.

The RiverDogs hope to continue their three game winning streak as they travel to Roanoke for a pair against the Roanoke Valley Vipers on Friday and Saturday, January 20 & 21, 2006. The Dogs return home to the Richmond Coliseum on Sunday, January 22nd for a 4:05 pm contest against the Missouri RiverOtters. It is also Fox Post-game Skate with the RiverDogs. Fans are asked to bring their skates and join the players on the ice immediately following the RiverDogs-RiverOtters game, get pictures, autographs, meet the players and a whole lot of fun. Those without skates are invited on the ice as well.
