Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Quad Cities River Bandits are anxiously anticipating their longest homestand of the year this week, a nine-game stretch that will begin on Tuesday and will remain unaffected by the rising water levels of the Mississippi River.
"This homestand is jam packed with great promotions, from Price is Right Night on Wednesday the 23rd to Ladies Night with free manicures on Wednesday the 30th and a ton of fun in between," said team owner Dave Heller. "Although the water level in the river is a bit high right now, city officials say it is not expected to get high enough to interfere with our homestand in any way."
On Monday, the Mississippi River stood approximately 1.25 feet above flood stage, causing minor flooding without affecting much in the way of commercial or private property. According to the Quad-City Times the river is predicted to crest at 16.7 feet on Wednesday, which would leave Modern Woodmen Park out of harms way and enable the Quad Cities River Bandits to move on with their homestand as planned.
"We've all seen the pictures from past flood years, so it is certainly a relief to know that we don't have to worry about flooding on the field or in the parking lot," said Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We have been in close contact with the City of Davenport throughout the Spring and they have kept us informed with the most up-to-date predictions in terms of water level and potential flooding. By Wednesday the water is going to be at its highest point, and that will still leave us in clear."
UP NEXT: The River Bandits return to Modern Woodmen Park for a season-long nine game homestand beginning on Tuesday, April 22, with a Noon game against the Burlington Bees featuring two-for-one tickets and a special Book Buddies Day. Wednesday's game will be full of great prizes on Price is Right Night, while Thirst-Day Thursday will double as Irish Night in a nod to Irish culture. The Great Lakes Loons come in for the weekend, which will include '90s Night on a Fireworks Friday, a Pedometer giveaway sponsored by the Heath Alliance on the first Rockin' Saturday of the year - featuring a live post-game concert from "Superfly" - and Soccer Day on a U.S. Bank Family Sunday. The homestand concludes with three more games against the Lansing Lugnuts, highlighted by Chiropractor Appreciation Night on April 28, another Noon Book Buddies Day on April 29, and Ladies Night featuring a Teeth Whitening Giveaway and FREE MANICURES on Wednesday, April 30. Merchandise featuring the new team name and logo is currently available by visiting the Modern Woodmen Park team store, and season ticket packages, mini-packages, and the popular You-Pick-10 Plan are on sale at the park or by calling (563) 3-BANDITS!
