
Burns Goes 2-For-4 with RBI Double in Fisher Cats 4-1 Loss

BINGHAMTON, NY- Andy Burns went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, but the Fisher Cats fell in Binghamton 4-1 on Thursday night.
The Fisher Cats put the lone run on the board with two outs in the top of the ninth inning. Brad Glenn doubled and scored on a Burns double down the right field line.
The Mets opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Darrell Ceciliani beat out an infield single, moved to second on a single by Brian Burgamy (2-for-2, 3 BB), and took third on a wild pitch. Matt Clark knocked in the run with a groundout to make it 1-0.
Binghamton (8-4) added two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Matt Reynolds (3-for-4) singled and came around to score on a passed ball and throwing error by catcher Yusuf Carter. Travis Taijeron walked, moved to third on a single by Ceciliani, and scored on a wild pitch.
The final run for the Mets came across in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ceciliani (3-for-5) doubled, and after two walks, scored on a sacrifice fly by Clark to make it 4-0.
Mets starter Matt Bowman (2-0) worked seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out 11. He retired 15 consecutive hitters between the second and seventh innings. John Church added a scoreless frame before the Fisher Cats plated the run off Chase Bradford in the ninth.
Starter Scott Copeland (0-3) lasted just 1.2 innings for the Fisher Cats before being lifted. He allowed four hits and three runs (one earned). After John Anderson recorded the final out of the second inning, Casey Lawrence went 5.1 innings in relief for New Hampshire (4-8), allowing one run. Scott Gracey finished up without allowing a run.
The Fisher Cats continue the seven-game, eight-day road swing through Binghamton and New Britain on Friday at 7:05pm. The pitching match-up pits RHP Aaron Sanchez (1-1, 3.29) for New Hampshire against Mets LHP Darin Gorski (1-1, 0.93) Radio coverage begins on Friday at 6:45 p.m. with Bob Lipman on WGIR 610 AM and www.nhfishercats.com.
The Fisher Cats return home for their next homestand on Friday, April 25 at 6:35 p.m. against the Reading Fightin Phils.
