Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FRISCO - Alex Burg's bases-loaded double capped a four-run seventh and sent the RoughRiders to an 8-7 come-from-behind win over Corpus Christi Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Friday marked the most runs the Hooks (2-2, 49-25) have allowed since May 26, an 8-4 loss vs. Arkansas.

Connor Sadzeck made the start for Frisco (2-2, 40-33) and retired the first seven men he faced. This run came to a halt in the third when seven consecutive Hooks reached base. Corpus Christi scored four times on five hits, two walks and three wild pitches. A Derek Fisher home run and doubles by Teoscar Hernandez and Roberto Pena highlighted the barrage, which knocked Sadzeck out of the game.

Pena added on in the fourth with his fourth home run of the year, staking Corpus Christi to a 5-1 advantage.

Hooks starter Keegan Yuhl, who was riding a five-game win streak, was touched for four runs over six innings of work. Burg's double in the sixth keyed a two-run frame which made the score 5-4 Hooks.

In the top of the seventh, Alex Bregman tripled off the wall in left field against lefty Frank Lopez (4-1). Bregman later scored on a two-out, two-strike single by Nick Tanielu.

Yuhl left the game with a 6-4 advantage but the Hooks could not hold it. Facing Eric Peterson (3-1), Andy Ibanez laid down a bunt base hit to begin the seventh. Ryan Cordell's one-out walk was followed by singles from Preston Beck and Joe Jackson, loading the bases with a run home. Burg turned the one-run deficit into an 8-6 Frisco edge by depositing a line drive into right-center.

Peterson had not allowed a run seven prior assignments, spanning 13 1/3 innings.

Conrad Gregor made it a one-run game in the eighth with his fourth home run of the year, an opposite-field shot to left field. Teoscar Hernandez coaxed a four-pitch walk in the ninth but Jose Valdespina induced an around-the-horn double play to end the game.

Francis Martes (4-2) gets the ball for Corpus Christi Saturday night. Frisco counters with lefty Victor Payano (5-4). First pitch 7:05. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
