Medicine Hat, AB - Edmonton Oilers prospect Tyler Bunz made 40 saves as the Medicine Hat Tigers beat the visiting Calgary Hitmen 5-3 Tuesday night at The Arena.
Tigers forward Cole Grbavac (Gur-ba-vack) broke a 3-3 third period tie just over eight minutes into the final frame before Anaheim Ducks prospect Emerson Etem scored his Western Hockey League leading 49th goal with under three minutes remaining to add an insurance marker.
Victor Rask and Alex Gogolev both scored their 22nd goals of the season while Trevor Cheek added his 19th for the Hitmen.
The win moves Medicine Hat into a tie with Moose Jaw for second place in the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of the fourth place Hitmen.
Calgary, 32-19-2-1, returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome tomorrow night to open a three game home stand against the Eastern Conference leading Edmonton Oil Kings. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. The Hitmen will also host Moose Jaw Friday and the Kootenay Ice on Sunday.
