Frederick Keys News Release
On the night the Orioles selected his brother Dylan fourth overall in the 2011 draft, Bobby Bundy became the first Keys pitcher to register six wins, going seven innings in a decisive 8-1 victory at Pfitzner Stadium over the Potomac Nationals. The Keys win was its sixth straight and 11th in its last 12.
Bundy had to face a ramped up Nationals lineup with the inclusion of big league rehabbing third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. Zimmerman, returning from an abdominal tear, went 2-for-3 with a double but did not play a role in Potomac's lone run in the game.
On the night Bundy went seven innings, allowing seven hits and a run while striking out six batters. He brought his ERA down to 2.73.
Bundy got all the help he needed early. After the Keys scored an unearned run in the first inning, they blew the game open in the second. SS Jonathan Schoop singled solidly under the glove of Zimmerman at third base. Next up was 3B Dale Mollenhauer who walked. RF Steve Bumbry then tripled to the alleyway in right-centerfield scoring both runners. After Bumbry scored on a CF Trent Mummey groundout the Keys did not let up. SS Bobby Steven singled and then 1B Tyler Townsend launched his tenth home run of the season, a blast to right-centerfield giving the Keys a commanding 6-0 lead.
The win matches a season high six in a row for the Keys who continue to march closer to a 2011 playoff berth. The Keys entered the night on top of the North by 4.5 games with two weeks remaining in the first half.
Tuesday, June 7th the Keys and Nationals play game two of their four game series. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with LHP Nathan Moreau getting the start. Airtime will be 6:45 p.m. on 1450 AM The Source.
The Keys return home Friday, June 10th to take on the Lynchburg Hillcats at 7:00 p.m. Fireworks follow the contest. For tickets contact the Keys at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
