
Sierra Promoted to Birmingham

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (JUNE 6, 2011) - Today catcher Luis Sierra has been promoted to AA Birmingham. There is no corresponding roster move at this time.
This is Sierra's first promotion to a level higher than Winston-Salem. In 28 games this season with the Dash, Sierra hit .198 (19 for 96) with two home runs, nine RBI, five doubles, a triple, and 14 runs scored. He had a career year offensively in 2010, hitting .293 (84 for 287) with five home runs, 41 RBI, 17 doubles, two triples, and 48 runs scored in 79 games, all with Winston-Salem. The Colombia native is in his second full season as a catcher after the White Sox converted from a full-time infielder.
The Dash's roster is set at 24 players, one below the Carolina League limit.
