RHP Wilfredo Boscan (0-2, 4.88) at LHP Joe Serafin (0-4, 5.52)
SCOREBOARD WATCHING: The Pelicans got some help during their win on Sunday as their two closest opponents in the Southern Division lost. Kinston fell 6-4 in Winston-Salem while Salem was swept away in Frederick 6-3. Myrtle Beach now leads Kinston by four and a half games and Salem by six and a half. The Birds have 14 games left on their first-half schedule while the Indians and Red Sox both have 15. The magic number for the Pelicans to clinch the first-half title and a Carolina League postseason berth has fallen to 11.
'COAST'-ING TO WINS: The Pelicans have had great success in front of the home fans at BB&T Coastal Field. The Birds sport the best home record in the Carolina League with an 18-7 mark. They've won five straight games in Myrtle Beach for the third time this season, including an active streak from May 25-29.
GETTING ABOARD: Ryan Strausborger has reached base in 17 consecutive games, starting on May 19 in Winston-Salem. He is batting .317 with a .371 on base percentage during the run that is the fourth-longest on-base streak in the Carolina League this season. Ryan is two shy of equaling Jared Prince's 2011 team high of 19, which Jared strung together April 28-May 19.
