Amarillo Bulls News Release
AMARILLO, TX - As the Amarillo Bulls get set to begin a two game road trip in Topeka tonight (Friday) against the RoadRunners, they announced a couple of roster moves.
The Bulls have added defenseman Stuart Pomeroy from the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers. In five games with the Musketeers, the Glenview, Illinois native had no points. Pomeroy is also committed to Princeton University, the same Ivy League school that defenseman Joe Grabowski will attend.
"I am happy to be a member of the Bulls," said Pomeroy. "I know the Bulls have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success the past few years and I am looking forward to help them continue that with this group we have."
Pomeroy said the fans can expect steady play from him at the blue line.
"I bring a strong defensive presence with lots of reliable and consistent play," he said. "I am hoping to develop my offensive side of the game."
Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said Pomeroy will add a good physical presence to the blue line.
"Stuart brings size and strength and moves the puck well," said Williams. "He's committed to Princeton and will go to play there next year. Our job is to help him get ready for that."
In another move, the Bulls traded defenseman Cameron Cooper to the Coulee Region Chill. Cooper played in 13 games for the Bulls and had two assists and was plus three.
"The coaching staff and the players liked and respected Cameron," said Williams. "I think this is going to be an opportunity for Cameron to succeed and play well."
The Amarillo Bulls return home next Friday and Saturday to face the Wichita Falls Wildcats at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The face off for both games is set for 7 pm.
Saturday is the annual Toys For Tots Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and when the Bulls score their first goal throw the toys onto the ice. The stuffed animals will be collected and given to the Toys For Tots. Tickets are available at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets. For further information on Group Rates or the Holiday Stocking Stuffer Package, please call the Bulls Office at 806-242-1122.
