
Bulls Host Second Annual Walk for Education this Saturday

Durham (NC) - The Second Annual Durham Walk for Education will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2003. The Walk, hosted by Capitol Broadcasting Company and the Durham Bulls, is a three-mile route, beginning and ending at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The walk begins at 10:00 a.m., rain or shine! There will be rest stops and volunteers manning the route to provide entertainment, comfort and safety for the walkers. There will be an awards ceremony immediately following the walk.
This is a community-wide event for students, parents, teachers, administrators, business, government, faith and community leaders. Everyone is invited to participate, and there will be incentives and prizes for schools, individuals and team captains.
Honorary Co-Chairs are Dr. Ann T. Denlinger, Superintendent of Durham Public Schools, and Dr. LeRoy Walker, U.S. Olympic Committee. Celebrity Co-Chairs are Bill Jordan, WRAL-FM Mix 101.5, and Wool E. Bull, Durham Bulls.
The funds raised from Walk for Education will support the improvement of education for every child in the Durham Community, through the programs of the Durham Public Education Network. The Durham Public Education Network is an independent, not-for-profit organization with the goal of involving the community in supporting and sustaining a high quality system of public education for each and every student.
