Belleville Bulls News Release

BROCKVILLE, ON - Rounding out the 2014-15 pre-season the Belleville Bulls travelled to Brockville to take on the Ottawa 67's at the Brockville community centre, Sunday afternoon. Despite a hot 4 goal second period, the Bulls gave up three un-answered in the 3rd frame as the Ottawa 67's closed out their undfeated pre-season with a 7-4 win.

The Ottawa 67's are fresh off a come from behind shootout win over the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night. Rookie net minder Connor Hicks started in goal for the Bulls and was tested by Ottawa shooters early as Willowdale, Ontario native Dante Salituro and Travis Konecny both put home scoring chances to give the 67's a 2-0 lead after 20 mins of play. Konecny's coming on the man advantage.

The real story was the second frame, however. Niki Petti opened the scoring in the stanza for the Bulls at 5:14 before Ottawa's Artur Tyanulin was awarded a penalty shot and made no mistake. Konecny also added his second of the game to give the 67's a 4-1 lead. Belleville then flipped the script and exploded with three un-answered power play goals to tie this offensive clinic at 4 goals a piece. Former 67 Brett Gustavsen, David Tomasek who just returned from injury on Saturday night and Chad Hefferenan all beat Ottawa goalie Oliver Lafrenière who saved 35 Belleville shots. The 67's put a stop to Belleville's momentum late in the period as Travis Barron scored what would be the game winner and put his club up 5-4 after 40 minutes.

Tecumseh, Ontario native Sam Studnicka who scored 8 goals in the 2013-14 season and Mike Vlajkov added one each early in the 3rd and the Bulls could not respond. The Ottawa 67's put the finishing touches on their perfect pre-season surviving a flurry of second period goals by the Belleville Bulls. Kanata's Connor Hicks stopped 37 of the 44 shots he faced. The Belleville Bulls finish the re-season with a 1-3 record.

-- The 2014-15 regular season is just around the corner as the Belleville Bulls will open up their schedule on the road taking on the defending OHL Champions the Guelph Storm on Friday September 26th.
