Bulls Acquire Jordan Mayer

Belleville Bulls News Release
BELLEVILLE, ON - The Bulls continue to draw from a source of skill and playoff experience as Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett has announced that the team has acquired overaged centreman Jordan Mayer from the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in exchange for Belleville's 3rd round pick in 2013.
Mayer, a native of nearby Kingston comes to the Bulls with 31 points in 35 games this season with James Boyd's Majors. He's in his fifth season in the Ontario Hockey League after being a 1st round pick in 2007 by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
"Unfortunately we've been forced to play with a short bench on many nights to this point in the season due to injuries up front," said Burnett following the deal. "It's important that we have the proper depth in place headed down the stretch here and I think Jordan will bring a wealth of experience, offensive skill and awareness up front."
Mayer is the second Major to join the Bulls this month after Joseph Cramarossa was acquired on Thursday. "Both these guys know what it's like to play in big game situations with a lot on the line. Cramarossa is a real competitor and Mayer is a high end puck distributor, two guys we think will round out our forward group."
"With the move, we'll need to address our overaged situation," added Burnett. "Simon Gronvaldt has done an excellent job with us this season, been a great citizen and an excellent guy in the dressing room. We'll be looking for opportunities for him to play in the league but he'll be moving on in his career."
Mayer will be in the lineup on Thursday night when the Bulls visit the Brampton Battalion at the Powerade Centre. Both he and Cramarossa will be suited up on Saturday night at home against the Sudbury Wolves at 7:05pm. For ticket information, contact the Bulls Box Office at 613-966-8338.
