San Francisco Bulls News Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The San Francisco Bulls Professional Hockey Team, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today they have acquired defenseman Daniel Maggio from the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. The trade completes the deal that sent Simon Danis-Pepin to the Komets.

"Daniel is a tough, young shut-down defenseman," said Bulls President and Head Coach Pat Curcio. "He was an NHL draft pick with a lot of upside."

Maggio, 22, was drafted by the New York Rangers in the sixth round, 170th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He completed his first professional season in 2012-13, competing with the Lake Erie Monsters and Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL), and Fort Wayne. In 26 career AHL games, Maggio has produced four points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 110 penalty minutes. In Fort Wayne, Maggio finished with 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) and 147 penalty minutes in 43 games.

Before turning pro, Maggio spent five seasons developing in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sudbury Wolves, Guelph Storm and Oshawa Generals. In 284 OHL games, Maggio totaled 100 points (25 goals, 75 assists) and 491 penalty minutes.
