Bulls 2012-2013 Home Opener Faces off Tonight vs Odessa

AMARILLO, TX - At long last it's finally here.

The third Amarillo Bulls home opener is set to face off tonight (Saturday) at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls begin their South Division portion of their schedule as they host the rival the Odessa Jackalopes.

Prior to the game, there will be a huge tailgate party in the back parking lot complete with free barbecue, refreshments and live music. Here is a great opportunity to celebrate the return of hockey with other fans.

There will be a pre-game ceremony prior to puck-drop as three banners will be unveiled to honor a memorable and record breaking 2011-2012 season. That year the Bulls won 46 regular season games captured both South Division regular season and post season championships, as well as the North American Hockey League overall regular season title. The Bulls also made their second straight trip to the Robertson Cup National Championship Tournament only to fall in the National Semi-Final.

It will be the third home opener for two Bulls players, Captain John Rey and forward TJ Sarcona, who will lead a club that finished 2-1-1 at the recent North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. Nine total players return from last year's roster that were 41-7-5 in the regular season versus the South including nine straight victories against tonight's opponent the Odessa Jackalopes.

The Amarillo Bulls have won 100 games as a franchise that includes regular season and playoffs. The Bulls hope to punctuate another exciting season with a home ice win where they won 22 games last year.
