Odessa Jackalopes News Release
AMARILLO, TX - In the first of twelve meetings between the two teams this season, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Amarillo Bulls by a final score of 5-1 Saturday at Cal Farley Coliseum at Amarillo Civic Center. With the loss, the Jacks fell to 2-3-1 overall in 2012-13 and with five points, sit alone in sixth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.
The Bulls got out to a hot start on Friday, as Tyler Deresky and Mike Davis staked Amarillo to a 2-0 lead on the first two Amarillo shots of the night at 0:53 and 1:16 of the first period, respectively. The Jackalopes responded at 6:06 of the opening frame, when a strong Dylan Campbell forecheck sprung a Mason Wyman down-low scoring chance that the Burnsville, Minnesota native finished off nicely on the backhand for his first goal of the season.
The second period started much like the first for Amarillo, as Ryan Cole snuck an insurance marker past Blake Wojtala just 41 seconds into the middle frame to extend the Bulls lead. The third period saw a lull in offense, as it took until the final two minutes of regulation for either team to strike again, but Deresky and Clint Carlisle added late markers to lift Amarillo to a 5-1 victory.
Next up for the Jacks, it's a weekend roadtrip to Topeka for three games in three days against the South Division leading RoadRunners from October 5th to the 7th.
In 2012-13, the Odessa Jackalopes drop the puck on their second season as a member of the North American Hockey League. Season ticket packages for the Jacks' sophomore campaign are available now starting at just $179.
