Bruins Win Home Opener

Austin Bruins News Release


The Austin Bruins kicked off the home portion of the 2012-13 season this Saturday night as they battled the Coulee Region. Riverside Arena was rocking as the Bruins added the first tally. AJ Reid started the scoring as Jay Dickman and Austin Nelson added assists. Austin took a 2-0 lead on the power play as Jay Dickman scores his first goal as a Bruins assisting was Brandon Wahlin and John Simonson. The Chill was able to close the gap with a goal from Aleksi Mustaniemi. At the end of one period of play Austin led 2-1. The second period the Bruins continued to apply pressure. Jay Dickman gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead assisting was AJ Reid. At the end of two periods of play Austin outshot the Chill 22-13. The third period Austin continued to outwork the Chill, Austin took a 4-1 lead with a power play goal from Josh Bretner assisting was Jay Dickman and Brandon Wahlin. Coulee was able to inch closer as they sided their second of the night from Travis Underwood. The Bruins came right back and took a 5-2 lead courtesy of John Simonson assisting was the Captain Nolan Kirley. The Austin Bruins continue play at Riverside Arena next weekend against the Aberdeen Wings. Tune into AM 1480 KAUS for live play by play.
