York Revolution News Release

York Revolution relievers combined for 7.1 scoreless innings and Brandon Haveman's three-run double in the seventh inning lifted the Revs to another comeback victory, as York defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-2 in front of 3,509 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Revs, winners of a season-best four straight, will aim for the sweep on Thursday.

For the second time in as many nights, York fell behind in the first inning, and trailed all night until finally going in front in the seventh.

After reliever Jeff Farnsworth retired his first five in relief and had the bases empty with two outs in the seventh, Andres Perez struck a single to left to keep the inning alive, capping a 3-for-3 night. Danny Gonzalez then reached on an infield single, and pinch-hitter Travis Scott was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Haveman came through with a double to deep right on the first pitch he saw, extending his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games, and giving the Revs all the runs they would need on one swing.

Meanwhile, five Revolution relievers combined to keep Camden off the board after the first inning. Omar Javier worked 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of Revs starter Jesus Sanchez who was pulled in the second inning. Yunior Novoa fired three scoreless innings allowing just one hit and striking out five. Kris Regas (1-0) earned the win in his season debut, stranding Chris Walker at second after a leadoff single in a scoreless seventh. Then after York had taken the lead, Adam Thomas worked a scoreless eighth for the second straight night, and R.J. Rodriguez set the Sharks down in order in the ninth on a pair of strikeouts to seal it, earning his seventh save of the season.

Camden had taken a first inning lead as the first four batters of the game all reached on singles. Walker led off with a single to left, the only hard hit ball of the entire sequence. Lloyd Turner reached on a bouncing ball that snuck through into left, Marquez Smith blooped a single into shallow center, and Brian Burgamy picked up an RBI on an infield hit. Things could have been worse, however, as the second run scored on a double play, and Sanchez stranded two runners in scoring position.

The Revs got one run back in the bottom of the first as Haveman, on base after a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a throwing error by Camden starter Bryan Corey after a series of pickoff attempts. Chris Nowak blooped the next pitch into shallow right for a two-out RBI single, making it a 2-1 game.

That unearned run was the only run allowed by Corey in five innings in a no-decision. Farnsworth (0-1) suffered the loss in relief.

Notes: Ramon Castro lost a Revs' season-high 15-game hitting streak, going 0-for-4 on the night. The Revs appeared to have tied the game on a Castro sac fly in the third, but Scott Grimes was called out on an appeal at third base ending the inning. Perez' three-hit game was his first of the year, and his team-leading 13th multi-hit game of the season. The Revs (19-19) have reached the .500 mark for the first time since they were 1-1 after two games. The Revs have won 11 of their last 14 games. It is York's fourth consecutive series win. Novoa's five strikeouts were the most by a Revs reliever this season; he has not allowed an earned run in 10.1 innings in relief this season. Rodriguez' save was the 25th of his Revs career, adding to his club-record. It was his first 1-2-3 save of the season. It was also his 108th appearance with York, matching Jason Olson (2007-09) for second most in club history. York's Shawn Hill (1-0, 4.32) will face Camden's Ricky Brooks (2-0, 1.23) on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. It is Hockey Night at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
