Vancouver Canadians News Release

VANCOUVER, BC - The Canadians offense was stymied for the first seven innings before Harry Ray doubled to start the eighth and later scored on an RBI groundout, but the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) tied the game with a solo homer in the ninth then struck for three in the tenth to win 4-1 and hand the C's their third consecutive loss.

Logan Rinehart dominated Vancouver for the first five innings. The right-hander K'd nine and walked two before Brendan McGuigan and Payton Alford held the C's hitless over the sixth and seventh.

#22 Blue Jays prospect Chad Dallas continued his midsummer surge with another career outing. The 4th rounder out of Tennessee in 2021 baffled the 'Sox for six scoreless innings - tying a personal season high - that featured two singles, two walks and eight strikeouts to match a 2022 best. It was his second consecutive quality start.

Ray's double came off Leon Hunter (W, 7-3) to start the eighth for the only Canadians hit of the night. He went to third on a passed ball then scored when Dasan Brown bounced a ground ball over the mound to make it 1-0.

The Frogs got to reliever Justin Kelly (L, 4-2) in the top of the ninth when Mike Salvatore homered with one out to tie the game then plated three runs (two earned) on one hit in the tenth for their only lead of the night, but it proved to be enough when the potential tying run in the bottom of the tenth popped out to end the game.

Vancouver has now lost three straight games for the first time since Everett took games two through four of their last meeting at the beginning of July. This week, the bullpen has thrice given up the lead and the offense has not scored more than two runs in each tilt.

Hanging on to first place by a half game, the C's will look to reset the series tomorrow afternoon as part of a Fortis BC 'Nooner at The Nat. #7 Blue Jays prospect Sem Robberse goes for the Canadians opposite AquaSox right-hander Jordan Jackson. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. with coverage available on CanadiansBaseball.com, MiLB.TV and Sportsnet 650.
