Green Bay Rockers News Release
An early start to the game led to a fast paced finale of a two game set between the Bullfrogs and Mallards. Kevin Nutley (St. Norbert) and Luke Staub (George Washington) pushed the pace of the game that lead to early scoring again at Joannes Stadium.
Anthony Cheky (Michigan State) led off the scoring by reaching base in the first inning on a walk from Nutley. The Mallards would also score a run in the second inning off of a single from Luke Meeteer (UW-Milwaukee).
Green Bay came back in the bottom half of the second inning scoring two off of a Mitch Ghelfi (UW-Milwaukee) single. Ghelfi finished the night with two singles and two RBI. The dominance of the catchers kept improving as Jose Godinez (St. Norbert), J.D. Crowe (Auburn), and Boomer White (TCU), each natural catchers, notched hits for the Bullfrogs Monday night. Monday was White's debut for Green Bay.
Going into the seventh inning the Bullfrogs led 3-2 over the Mallards as Youngdahl came up to the plate with runners on first and second. Youngdahl blasted a home run to left field for his first home run of the season giving Green bay a 6-2 lead going in to the eighth inning. Youndahl finished the night 1-3 with three RBI.
Madison would bring across three runs in the top of the eighth inning to give the fans a bit of a scare in Frogville. The Mallards would leave runners on second and third after a groundout to second from Eric Meeteer (UW Milwaukee), keeping the lead for Green Bay at 6-5.
Boomer White doubled to lead off the eighth inning, and he was singled in by J.D. Crowe to extend the Bullfrogs' lead to 7-5. It was the first hit of the season for both White and Crowe.
Travis Duke (Texas) entered in the top of the ninth to finish off the game, earning the save for Green Bay. The win went to Nutley, and the loss was charged to Staub.
Green Bay starts a two game set against the La Crosse Loggers tomorrow to finish up their five game homestand at Joannes Stadium. Come out to Joannes Stadium for 2 for 1 Tuesdays with Y100 and the Bullfrogs Collectible Player Poster #1 presented by Van Laanen.
