BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers (3-2) shutout the Lakeshore Chinooks (1-3) Sunday evening, 3-0. Cam Gibson walked twice and scored two runs as the pitching staff took care of the rest in the Bombers' shortest game of the season.
Georgia Bulldog Mike Mancuso allowed just three hits in five innings of work. Kenton San Miguel (W, 1-0) struck out two and retired all six batters he faced in two innings of work. Zach Waters came in for the eighth and Brian Heldman (S, 1) shut it down in the ninth to close out the victory
Battle Creek got two of their three runs in the sixth inning on two wild pitches from reliever Mitchell Sewald who relieved starter Eric Anderson (L, 0-1) in the inning.
The Bombers tacked on an insurance run in the eighth after a leadoff walk by Gibson who scored on Kade Scivicque's single, recording his first RBI of the season
Hunter Devall gets his second start of the season after striking out nine in four innings on opening night. The 7:05 Monday night start at C.O. Brown Stadium is Faith Night.
