The Border Cats almost let a 10-run lead slip away Sunday, but managed to hang on for a 13-11 win over Willmar to sweep the Stingers in a two-game weekend series at Subway Field. The Cats blew the game open scoring three times in the 4th inning and five times in the 5th for a 12-2 lead, but the Stingers stung the Cats bullpen, exploding for eight runs in the 7th inning to make it 12-10. The teams traded runs in the 8th inning to close out the scoring. Thunder Bay banged out 14 hits Sunday and scored 20 runs in the series.

First Baseman Ryan Casillas (Southern Illinois University) made his season debut, belting his first home run and collecting four runs batted in. Michael Foster (Northeastern University) is now hitting .700 after going 4-5 with an RBI and four runs scored. His college teammate, Jason Vosler, is batting .636 after going 3-6 with a run scored and a run batted in. Jacob Rogers (Eastern New Mexico University knocked in three runs going 2-4 at the plate.

Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) made his first start of the season and pitched four innings. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs (one earned), while striking out two. Knoblauch, who was on a pitch count, departed after throwing 69 pitches. Kyle Cornett (Murray State University) picked up the win in relief and

Michael Foster moved from his designated hitter spot to the mound and recorded his second save in as many nights. The righthander struck out three in getting the final five outs.

The Cats continue their homestand Monday night when they open a two-game series against the Mankato MoonDogs. Righthander Chad Maine (Western Michigan University) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay.
