Green Bay Rockers News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs returned to the field on Thursday night following three days off for the All-Star break to take on the La Crosse Loggers at Joannes Stadium. Bullfrogs' starter, Nathan Disch (Jacksonville) tossed a quality start and the bullpen held the Loggers scoreless the rest of the way to give Green Bay a 4-0 victory on Thursday.

Disch, making his third start, picked up his third win of the season on Thursday. The Appleton, Wisconsin native threw six scoreless innings, surrendering only three hits to the Loggers. Disch also struck out a season-high eight batters.

After Disch threw six scoreless innings, the bullpen did not allow a run in the final three innings to shut out the Loggers. A combination of Josh Glick (Nova Southeastern), Matt Sabel (UW-Oshkosh), Cody Pollack (Midland), and Sam Brunner (Dodge City CC), allowed only two hits and no runs to La Crosse over the final three innings.

Blake Stevens (Birmingham-Southern) started for the Loggers and took the loss on Thursday night. Stevens threw four innings and gave up two runs on four hits to Green Bay.

Offensively, the Bullfrogs gave the pitching staff enough run support on Thursday, scoring four on seven hits. Green Bay scored their first run of the game in the second inning. Dean Long (Emporia State) led the inning off with a single, before advancing to second on a fielder's choice, and third on a stolen base. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) then plated Long with an RBI sacrifice fly that gave the Bullfrogs an early 1-0 lead.

Green Bay added their second run in the following inning. Ryan Koziol (Gulf Coast State) started the inning with a walk and later scored from third on a fielder's choice that came off the bat of Brian Celsi (California) that put Green Bay up 3-0 after three innings.

The Bullfrogs scored their final two runs to take a 4-0 lead in the seventh inning. Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne) scored on an RBI double from Ryan Howell (Chabot) for the first run of the inning. Howell then scored from second base on a dropped third strike by the Loggers that put Green Bay up 4-0 after seven innings.

Dean Long led the Bullfrogs offensively on Thursday, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. Jacobson and Howell recorded the only two RBI for Green Bay.

Green Bay and La Crosse will play the final game of their two-game series on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Joannes Stadium in Green Bay.
