
Bullfrogs Return to Action against La Crosse

Green Bay, Wis. - Following a three-day break for the All-Star Game, the Green Bay Bullfrogs (24-29, 7-11 Sec. Half) will return to action on Thursday night against the La Crosse Loggers (28-26, 7-12 Sec. Half) at Joannes Stadium. Thursday's game will be the first of a two-game series in Green Bay against the Loggers before the Bullfrogs hit the road for seven out of their next eight games.
Before the All-Star break, the Bullfrogs won their most recent game in St. Cloud on Sunday. Green Bay pounded out 14 hits and scored 13 runs en route to a 13-3 defeat of the Rox. Eight Bullfrogs recorded hits on Sunday, with Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) leading the way going 4-for-5 while Ryan Howell (Chabot) went 3-for-6 with four RBI. Throwing six and one-thirds innings, the Bullfrogs bullpen allowed no runs and only one hit to St. Cloud.
On Thursday night, Nathan Disch (Jacksonville University) will get the start on the mound for the Bullfrogs. The Appleton, Wisconsin native has appeared in six games (two starts) for Green Bay this season, and owns a 2-0 record with a 2.64 ERA. Disch's last appearance came on Sunday in St. Cloud when he came out of the bullpen and threw a perfect one and one-third innings. His last start came against the Madison Mallards, when he earned a no decision after throwing six innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits.
Blake Stevens (Birmingham-Southern) will take the hill for the Loggers opposite of Disch on Thursday. Stevens will be making his fourth start of the season for La Crosse and owns a 1-2 record with a 2.79 ERA. The six-foot right-hander picked up a win in his most recent start which came against Alexandria on July 16th. In that start, Stevens threw seven innings of shutout baseball, surrendering only four hits to Alexandria. On the season, Stevens has 17 strikeouts and has not given up a walk.
First pitch on Thursday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Joannes Stadium.
