Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs (20-23, 3-5 Sec. Half) continue their eight-game home stand with game three on Thursday night against the Battle Creek Bombers (19-25, 3-6 Sec. Half). The Bombers will be in Green Bay for a two-game series on Thursday and Friday, before the Lakeshore Chinooks come to Joannes Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
This series will be Battle Creek's second and final trip to Joannes Stadium this season. The Bullfrogs and Bombers met in Green Bay for the opening series of the season on May 27th and May 28th. Battle Creek won game one by a score of 10-9 before Green Bay got their first win of the season in game two by a score of 4-2.
The Bullfrogs and Bombers also met twice in Michigan in the middle of June, with the teams splitting that series as well.
On Wednesday night in Green Bay, the Bullfrogs and Kalamazoo Growlers played the final game of their two-game series at Joannes Stadium. After six early runs in the first two innings, the Growlers held off the Bullfrogs, who loaded the bases in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, to win on Wednesday, 8-6. Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne), Ryan Koziol (Gulf Coast State), and Brian Celsi (California) all recorded two hits for the Bullfrogs on Wednesday night.
Green Bay will hand the ball off to Roberto Baroniel (Nova Southeastern) on Thursday night. The six-foot-four senior right-hander will be making his eighth start of the season, and owns a 3-1 record with a 2.33 ERA. Baroniel has given up only three earned runs in his last four starts, and has won his last three starts. Since his first start of the season, against Battle Creek on May 27th, Baroniel has thrown at least six innings in every start. Opponents are hitting just .174 against Baroniel this season.
First pitch on Thursday night is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Joannes Stadium in Green Bay.
