Mallards Sunk by Rafters 3-1 to End Five Game Road Trip

Wisconsin Rapids, WI - July 10, 2014. One swing of the bat downed the Madison Mallards (6-4, 24-19) in the final game of their five game road trip against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (4-4, 16-27) tonight in Wisconsin Rapids.

Rafters third baseman Keelin Rasch (Louisiana Monroe) hit a three run shot in the fourth inning off Mallards starter Rob McDonnell (Illinois) to put the Rafters up 3-0.

McDonnell went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five in the loss.

The Mallards would score one run in the eighth inning off a sacrifice fly from right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) to drive in designated hitter Joe Dudek (North Carolina). Marabell, playing in his tenth game with the Mallards, recorded his 11th RBI on the flyout.

Rafters starter Jake Cage (Azusa Pacific University) held the Mallards scoreless in six innings pitched, walking one while striking out four to record his first win of the year.

The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" tomorrow to begin a three game home series against the Rafters at 7:05 pm.
