Bullfrogs Jump on Woodchucks Early, Win 12-4

Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs came out swinging tonight against the Wisconsin Woodchucks as they defeated the south divisional opponent 12-4. The Bullfrogs scored their 12 runs on 15 hits and continue their offense success against the Woodchucks. The win tonight moved the Bullfrogs record to 13-20 on the season.
After trailing by one after the first inning, the Bullfrogs scored two runs in the top of the second. Parker Coss (UC-Irvine) hit a sac fly to score Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC), who reached base with a leadoff double. Brian Lees (Southeast Missouri State) plated the second run with a two out RBI double to score Laren Eustace (Indiana).
The Woodchucks would respond in the bottom half of the second as Connor Heady (Kentucky) hit a two run home to retake the lead. That lead would not last long as the Bullfrogs broke for four runs in the top of the third. The inning began with a Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne) triple. Quincy Nieporte (Florida State) would then hit a line drive to left field to score Shoemaker from third. The next two Bullfrog hitters reached with base hits to load the bases. A fielder's choice by Eustace and a two RBI double by Coss brought in three runs. After four the Bullfrogs had a 6-3 lead.
The Bullfrogs would extend the lead in the fifth after scoring five more runs. An RBI single by Coss, an RBI double by Brad Hamilton (Kent State), and then a two RBI triple by Lees plated the rest of the runs for the Bullfrogs in the inning.
It was a bullpen game for the Bullfrogs as starter Stephan Poplin (Southern Union State CC) was taken out of the ballgame after only recording one out in the first. The Bullfrogs used five relievers in the game and they combined for three runs on seven hits and struck out ten batters.
Parker Coss was the player of the game for the Bullfrogs as he went three for four on the day and was a triple shy of the cycle. He also drove in four Bullfrog runs. Lees also had a solid game for the Bullfrogs as he had three RBIs on two extra base hits.
Tomorrow the Bullfrogs finish up this two game series at home against the Woodchucks. First pitch scheduled for 6:05pm.
