Madison Mallards News Release

Down two games in the South division with four games left in the first half, the Mallards (20-12) will turn to Westin Wuethrich (Washington) to keep Madison in the first-half hunt. Wuethrich will be making his first start of 2016 against the St. Cloud Rox (22-9), who find themselves leading the Northwood League's North division by a game and a half. This two-game set marks the first inter-division matchup the Mallards have played this season.

Wuethrich, who just finished his junior season at Washington after two years at Madison College, has pitched five innings across three relief appearances for the Mallards this season. He's earned a save and struck out five in that span.

The Rox will throw left-hander Logan Salow (Kentucky), who will be making his fifth start of 2016. Salow has been very reliable for St. Cloud this season, posting a quality start in every game he's pitched. In four starts, Salow has pitched 24.2 innings, struck out 30, and owns a 3.28 ERA. Salow is 2-1 on the season with his lone loss coming in his last start at Eau Claire.

Madison will play this game on the heels of their loss at Lakeshore last night, and despite the result, the Mallards had notable performances around the diamond. Zach Jarrett (UNC-Charlotte) doubled in a run in the contest, giving him his 26th RBI on the season. Nate Palace (Valparaiso) and Nico Hoerner (Stanford) each collected two hits with Frank German (North Florida) striking out five while allowing no runs in three innings of work.

Tonight's game against the St. Cloud Rox will get underway at 5:05 pm at the Duck Pond. The game will feature postgame fireworks, presented by Pepsi. There will also be a performance by Brothers & Sisters featuring the Brothers of Locksley with Friends. Tickets are available for purchase by visiting MallardsBaseball.com, calling the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277, or stopping in the ticket office at 2920 N Sherman Ave.
