Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Following a series sweep of the Madison Mallards on Thursday and Friday, and winners of three straight games, the Green Bay Bullfrogs will stay at Joannes Stadium for a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies beginning Saturday. The Bullfrogs (14-17) will play Duluth (8-25) on Saturday and Sunday, before closing out a six-game home stand against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Monday afternoon.
On Friday night in Green Bay, the Bullfrogs held a 3-1 lead up until the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh inning, Madison scored three runs to grab a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Green Bay, however, would regain the lead in their half of the inning by scoring two runs to take the lead back at 5-4. Brian Celsi (California) had a two RBI single in the inning that scored Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Matt Beaty (Belmont). Jake Stolley (Northwestern) and Cody Pollack (Midland) shut down the Mallards the rest of the way to preserve the Bullfrogs lead and push Green Bay to their third straight victory.
The Duluth Huskies will make their lone trip to Green Bay on Saturday and Sunday. The Huskies have lost their last five games, including two losses to Waterloo on Thursday and Friday. Green Bay and Duluth previously met in Minnesota on June 2nd and 3rd, with the two teams splitting the two-game series. Duluth won game one by a score of 4-3 while Green Bay took game two, 6-3.
The Bullfrogs will hand the ball off to Corey Fischer (Madison College) on Saturday as they look to win their fourth straight game. Fischer, from nearby Denmark, Wis., will be making his fourth start of the season and owns a 1-0 record with a 5.14 ERA in three starts so far this season. Fischer was roughed up in his last start on June 22nd against Wisconsin Rapids, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits in just one and two-thirds innings.
Fischer picked up his win on the season in his Bullfrogs debut against Lakeshore on June 8th. In that game, Fischer threw six innings, giving up only one run on three hits while striking out four.
First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 6:05 PM from Joannes Stadium. Following the game on Saturday there will be post-game fireworks presented by Pepsi.
