Green Bay, Wis. - Winners of five straight games, the Green Bay Bullfrogs (28-29, 11-11 Sec. Half) will continue their road trip with a two-game series against the Battle Creek Bombers (24-34, 8-15 Sec. Half) beginning on Monday. The Bullfrogs will play seven games in the next six days with six of those contests coming on the road.
On Sunday night in Madison, the Bullfrogs pounded out ten hits and nine runs to defeat the Mallards, 9-2, and complete the two-game sweep. Ryan Howell (Chabot) hit his tenth and eleventh home runs of the season on Sunday, finishing 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored for Green Bay. Mike Ellenbest (Saginaw Valley State) earned the win after throwing six innings, allowing only four hits and two runs (one earned) to the Mallards.
Corey Fischer (Madison College) will take the hill on Monday, looking to extend the Bullfrogs winning streak to six games. The Denmark, Wisconsin native will be making his eighth start of the season on Monday, and currently owns a 2-2 record with a 4.21 ERA. Fischer's last win came on July 11th against Battle Creek when he threw seven shutout innings and gave up only two hits to the Bombers. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in that start as well, as Green Bay blew out Battle Creek, 14-0.
A former Bullfrog, Luke Heller (Cornerstone University), will start on the mound for the Bombers on Monday. Heller has appeared in six games for Battle Creek this season and will be making his first start for the Bombers on Monday. The righty from Whitewater, Wisconsin has a 0-2 record with a 4.40 ERA for Battle Creek.
