Wausau, WI. - The host Wisconsin Woodchucks (28-40, 16-17) secured the two-game sweep and season series over the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (26-42, 14-18) with a 5-1 victory at Athletic Park Wednesday evening. The Woodchucks finish the season series 7-1 against Green Bay and 4-0 at home.

The Bullfrogs did not record a hit until the eighth inning. Wisconsin struck first in the fourth with a three-spot in the frame to grab an easy 3-0 lead. The Woodchucks tallied consecutive RBI walks and a sacrifice fly to put the hosts in front.

Two more Woodchucks runs came across in the sixth inning on a two-run blast by Dom DeRenzo to make it a 5-0 advantage. Green Bay got on the board in the eighth inning with a two-out solo home run from Riley Mihalik (Junior, Rider Univ.) to cut the deficit down to 5-1, but it would not be enough as Wisconsin notched the four-run victory.

Mihalik finished 1-for-4 with a RBI, while Keaton Smith (Junior, Nevada) also went 1-for-4 with a walk. Blake Nelson (Junior, Michigan) was 1-for-4 and Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) contributed a 1-for-3 effort.

Wisconsin starting pitcher Everett Hurst earned the win, improving to 2-3. Green Bay starter Leo Perez (Freshman, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) took the loss, dropping to 5-2.

The Green Bay Bullfrogs return home to Joannes Stadium tomorrow night to face the Madison Mallards for the opener of a home-and-home series. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
