Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI. - The visiting Kenosha Kingfish (29-30, 16-9) scored six total runs in the seventh and eighth innings to roll past the host Green Bay Bullfrogs (23-37, 11-13) by a final score of 9-3 at Joannes Stadium Tuesday evening. The Bullfrogs tied the game twice, but never took the lead in the contest.
Kenosha struck first in the opening frame on a RBI fielder's choice by Will Wagner to grab an early 1-0 advantage. Carson McCusker followed with solo blast on the first pitch he saw in the third inning to make it a 2-0 lead.
Green Bay answered with a two-spot in the bottom of the third to knot the game at 2-2. The rally began with a RBI single from Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) followed by a scorching RBI double from Preston Pavlica (Junior, Grand Canyon Univ.) to even the score.
The Kingfish took back the 3-2 lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Marty Bechina. Green Bay would tie the game again at 3-3 in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI base hit by Keaton Smith (Junior, Univ. of Nevada).
In the visiting half of the seventh, Kenosha would scratch across a pair of runs to break the tie for the third time in the game. Connor Doyle scored on a wild pitch to put the Kingfish back in front 4-3. Bechina then posted a RBI double to right field to stretch the advantage to 5-3.
Kenosha exploded with four runs in the eighth inning, beginning with Bryce Carter scoring on another wild pitch followed by Scott Dubrule's two-run single to make it 8-3. A RBI walk drawn by Ben Troike extended the margin to 9-3.
Maris led the Green Bay offense, finishing 2-for-4 with a RBI. Pavlica went 1-for-4 with his RBI double, while Esteban Cardoza-Oquendo (Freshman, Navarro College) was 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Kenosha relief pitcher Keanu Mendez earned the win, improving to 5-2. Green Bay reliever Kenny Carrillo (Sophomore, Golden West College) took the loss, falling to 0-3.
The Green Bay Bullfrogs will play two games tomorrow for a day-night doubleheader against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. First pitch for game one at Joannes Stadium is slated for an 11:05 a.m. start, while the second game at Herr-Baker Field is set for 6:35 p.m.
