Green Bay Rockers News Release

The Bullfrogs dropped game one of their 2012 campaign by a score of 2-1 in 11 innings to the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks.

The Bullfrogs silenced the Lakeshore bats early. Starter Zak Hermans went six scoreless innings, giving up just one hit while striking out four Chinooks batters. Hermans walked no one on the day.

The Bullfrogs struck first in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Brian Celsi reached base on a Lakeshore throwing error. A well-executed hit and run by Joel Klock then put runners at the corners, and Nick Stein hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Celsi for what ended up being Green Bay's lone run of the game.

6'6" left-hander Ben Graff pitched two innings of relief, giving up no hits and striking out a batter.

With a one run lead in the top of the ninth, the 'Frogs handed the ball to this season's closer, Bud Jeter. With two down and a runner on first, the Chinooks rallied to tie the ball-game on a Scott Wilcox single. Wilcox had two of Lakeshore's three hit in the ballgame.

After a frame of scoreless extra-inning ball, the teams headed to the 11thstill tied at one. With the bases loaded, Bullfrogs reliever Will Landsheft hit Eric Aguilera on his first pitch of the game, giving the Chinooks a 2-1 lead.

Landsheft then struck out two Chinooks batters to get himself out of the bases loaded jam, but the 'Frogs were unable to push across a run to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the 11th.

Game two of the season is tomorrow at Joannes Stadium against Lakeshore. Game time is at 6:35 PM. Brad Nasis of St. Edward's College will be on the mound for Green Bay.
