Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis - In their first game back from the break, the Bullfrogs bounced back against the Kingfish with a 10-5 win. The season series ends in a split as both teams won four games. The win moves the Bullfrogs second half record to 17-15 and overall record of 32-36.
It was the Bullfrogs that jumped out in front early. In the first inning, Marcus Shoemaker would score the opening run of the ballgame after a couple of throwing errors on a stolen base attempt. They would add two more runs in the top of the second. Colton Onstott (Dodge City CC) began the inning with a walk. A third Kingfish error moved Onstott to second for Chris Botsoe (Louisville). After Botsoe sacrificed himself to move Onstott to third, Josh Hollander (Kent State) sent the first pitch he saw into left field to drive in Onstott. Hollander would come around and score on an RBI single by Laren Eustace (Indiana).
The scoring would continue for the Bullfrogs. In the fourth, Brad Hamilton (Kent State) drove in his Kent State teammate, Hollander, on a single up the middle. The Bullfrogs would break the game open in the top of the fifth as they plated three runs. Back to back hits for the Bullfrogs put runners on second and third with nobody out. Onstott would hit a flair single to center to bring home Nieporte and Clemons. The Bullfrogs would get their third run of the inning on a single by Hollander. After four and a half innings, the Bullfrogs had a 7-0 lead.
The Kingfish would finally get to Luke Lind (North Dakota State) as they would record their first hit of the night as Marty Bechina (Michigan State) hit a single to left. A double by Cal Jadacki (St. Joseph's) gave the Kingfish their first run of the ballgame. They would push across another in the next inning on an RBI groundout by Bechina.
Luke Lind had another strong performance on the mound. The right-hander picked up his fourth victory after going six full innings, he allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight batters.
Both teams put up two runs in the eighth inning. Bullfrogs scored a couple on a single by Austin Clemons (Louisville) to plate Hamilton and Marcus Shoemaker (Lenoir Rhyne). The Kingfish scored on a double by Pete Schuler (Kent State) and a ground out by Dylan Rosa (Kent State).
Offensively, the Bullfrogs were led by Brad Hamilton. Hamilton finished 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Austin Clemons and Josh Hollander both picked up a couple of hits and both drove in two.
Bullfrogs head back to Green Bay to begin a two game series against the Rockford Rivets. First pitch from Joannes Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
