Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs (12-20-0-2) meet the Syracuse Crunch (16-11-2-1) tonight for the fourth time this season. Hamilton leads the season series, earning two wins and one loss, with one of the victories coming in a shootout.
In the last meeting between these two teams, Bulldogs goaltender Jeff Deslauriers made 21 saves to lead Hamilton to a 2-1 shootout victory. Francis Lemieux scored for the Bulldogs, while Ben Simon found the net for Syracuse. Andrei Kostitsyn and James Sanford scored for Hamilton in the shootout, while Greg Mauldin had the lone shootout marker for Syracuse. Deslauriers was named the game's first star. Syracuse goaltender Andrew Penner blocked 21 shots and was named the game's second star.
The Bulldogs remain in seventh place in the North Division with 26 points and trail the Cleveland Barons (13-21-1-1) by two points for sixth position. The Crunch sit in fourth position in the North with 35 points, one point behind the Rochester Americans and one point ahead of the Toronto Marlies.
BULLDOGS NOTES
- Hamilton has yet to score a first period goal against Syracuse this season. The âDogs have scored five goals in both the second and third period against the Crunch.
- D Danny Syvret recorded two assists on Friday, December 23 in Hamilton's 3-2 loss to the Rochester Americans. Syvret has recorded two assists in three of his last six games, and has a total of seven assists over that stretch.
- The Bulldogs are 0-2-0-0 when playing on Tuesdays this season.
- Marc-Antoine Pouliot leads Hamilton in scoring in the month of December with eight points (four goals, four assists) in 10 games.
