Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs winless streak now sits at four games as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Toronto Roadrunners at the Ricoh Coliseum on Thursday night.
Hamilton's record through 59 games stands at 30 wins, 17 losses, 8 ties and 4 overtime losses.
The Roadrunners opened the scoring at the 3:40 mark of the first period as Brad Winchester scored a shorthanded goal. Jeff Woywitka and goaltender Stephen Valiquette earned assists on the goal.
Hamilton evened the score 1-1 at 8:41 when Chris Higgins took a rebound and fired it top corner. A Benjamin Carpentier point shot, which was tipped by Jozef Balej initiated the goal.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead 2-1 with just 0.8 seconds remaining in the second period as Jean-Philippe Cote pinched in and took a Benoit Gratton pass from the corner and put it past Roadrunners goaltender Valiquette. Alexander Perezhogin also picked up an assist on the play for the Bulldogs.
However that would be the end of the scoring for the Bulldogs. Toronto would score three unanswered goals in the third period, including an empty netter to seal the victory. Scoring in the third for Toronto were former Bulldogs Michael Henrich (2) and J.J. Hunter.
In goal Olivier Michaud made 20 saves and suffered the loss for the Bulldogs. Valiquette, the game's first star, stopped 37 of the 39 Hamilton shots.
