Griffins fan to become "King for a Day"

Grand Rapids, Mich. - A Grand Rapids Griffins fan will help make children's wishes come true and earn a chance to be treated like royalty through the Royal Canadian "King for a Day" auction.

From 9 p.m. today through 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, fans can visit griffinshockey.com to place their bid to become "King for a Day" during the Griffins game versus the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on Saturday, March 13. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.

Bidding starts at $150, and the highest bidder will receive a unique prize package that includes:

* Four VIP tickets to the game;

* A behind-the-scenes tour of Van Andel Arena;

* The opportunity to stand rink-side and watch the teams warm-up before the game;

* A pre-game ride on the Meijer Zamboni;

* A jersey and puck autographed by Griffins left wing Derek King.

Celebrating its twentieth year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Wish kids, like all children, have cherished hopes and dreams in their hearts.
