Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 3-1 on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. Max Pacioretty produced a three point night to lead the âDogs to victory.
Following a scoreless first frame, the Bulldogs opened the scoring 42 seconds into the second period. Pacioretty stripped the puck off a Marlies defender before skating in alone on Toronto starting goaltender James Reimer. Pacioretty used a forehand-to-backhand move before depositing the puck behind the goaltender.
The Marlies tied the game 1-1 at 9:50 of the middle frame. Viktor Stalberg received the puck from Ryan Stokes before dishing a pass to Greg Scott, who was alone in front of the net. Scott ripped a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford over the glove.
Ryan White gave Hamilton a 2-1 lead at 17:04 of the second stanza. White received the puck from Pacioretty while at the right side of the net before firing a shot towards the net that bounced off a Toronto defender's leg and across the goal line.
Ryan Hamilton was awarded a penalty shot at 12:49 when he was hooked down on a breakaway. Hamilton could not score however as Sanford made the save when he stuck his right pad out.
The Bulldogs sealed the win with an empty-net marker at 19:10. Mike Glumac chipped the puck to Ben Maxwell, who skated in alone before firing a shot into the empty net.
The Bulldogs next host the Rochester Americans for a game on Saturday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
