Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The last time the B-Sens and Norfolk Admirals met was the last day of 2009, which ended in favor of the Senators 3-2. So far, 2010 has not been so kind to the Binghamton Senators but they were hoping on this night they would get a consecutive win against the Admirals.
At the 7:51 mark of the first period, Admirals forward Mitch Fadden got his fourth goal of the year to take the lead 1-0. Blair Jones and Paul Szczechura earned the assists.
Admirals leading goal scorer, and former B-Sens Brandon Bochenski scored to put the B-Sens at a two goal deficit. In the final minute of the first period, Mark Parrish passed it Bochenski who was able to shoot it past Senators' net minder Chris Holt's shoulder. Ty Wishart earned the other assist.
A surge of energy in the second period pulled the B-Sens within one goal, 2-1. Geoff Kinrade skated from center ice with the puck, and then helped create a scramble right in front of the net. Zack Smith tipped a loose puck into the open net for his 9th goal of the season at 16:32. Cody Bass and Eric Condra earned the assists.
Norfolk regained their two goal lead back at 7:28 of the third period as Ryan Craig skated around the back of the net and shot it in past the right side of Holt. Dana Tyrell and Adam Hall got the assists.
Binghamton came back and scored the next two goals. At 8:54 Jim O'Brien, on the power play, flipped in a Martin St. Pierre shot. Josh Hennessy would assist as well. Less than a minute later, Zack Smith picked up his second goal of the game to tie the score 3-3. Condra and Hennessy assisted for their second points of the game.
The B-Sens failed to hold on, giving up the game winning goal to Vladimir Mihalik with just under three minutes remaining in regulation, whose shot from the blue line and found its way past Holt to lift the Admirals to the 4-3.
The B-Sens return to action Friday night as the host the Providence Bruins. Tickets are $17.75 for side seating, $16.75 for end seating. Fans can purchase tickets at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or in person at the Binghamton Senators' executive office or the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office.
