
Bulldogs Defeat Marlies 4-1 in Home-Opener

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies 4-1 in front of a sold out crowd of 8,819 at Copps Coliseum on Friday night. Louis Leblanc scored two goals while Patrick Holland and Aaron Palushaj both scored a goal and added an assist.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring with 46 seconds remaining the opening frame on a goal by Leblanc. Darryl Boyce wired a cross-crease pass to Leblanc who slid the puck past Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens for his first goal of the season. Jarred Tinordi picked up his first professional point with an assist on the play.
The 'Dogs extended their lead to 2-0 with 2:16 remaining in the second stanza on a goal by Holland, which was the first of his professional career. Gabriel Dumont received a pass in the slot and wristed a shot off of Scrivens' pad and the rebound came out to Holland who chipped the puck into the back of the net.
Hamilton added to their lead on a powerplay marker by Aaron Palushaj at 4:33 of the third period. Palushaj picked up a pass from Holland and rifled a wrist shot from the left circle over the left shoulder of Scrivens.
The Marlies scored their first goal of the night at 10:12 of the third stanza on a tally by Jake Gardiner. Greg Scott picked up the puck at the boards on the right side and feathered a pass to Gardiner in the slot who wristed a shot over the shoulder of Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer.
Louis Leblanc added an empty net goal which was his second goal of the night at 17:49 of the final frame. Toronto finished the game with 40 shots on goal while Hamilton finished with 30.
The 'Dogs next game is TOMORROW at 7:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum against the Marlies. Their next home game is on Friday, October 26th against the Marlies at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. All Bulldogs games during the month of October will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820) and on Montreal's TSN Radio 690 (AM 690).
