Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONT. - The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club and Cable 14 are pleased to announce a joint partnership for the 2015-2016 Ontario Hockey League season.
The station will broadcast over 60 Bulldogs games, including all home games and over 30 games on the road, the most in its history. The majority of the games will be broadcast in HD and will be available on television as well as online on the newly launched Cable 14 NOW for Rogers and Cogeco subscribers.
"We are proud to not only continue, but to extend and enhance our partnership and coverage of Bulldogs hockey for fans and viewers for the upcoming season as the OHL returns to Hamilton once again." said Cable 14 general manager Brent Rickert. "Our fifteenth season will kick off this weekend with an away game from London and the home opener against Oshawa. These are two tough teams and both games can be seen in HD on Cable 14 and online at Cable 14 NOW.com"
"This is an exciting time for Cable 14 and Hamilton as it gives subscribers the opportunity to follow their local team on their local channel in High Definition like never before." added OHL Tonight producer Rob Newhouser. "To helm the broadcast each game night is a truly special opportunity, knowing that these broadcasts are largely possible thanks to our amazing crew of volunteers."
Added Bulldogs president Steve Staios "Partnering with Cable 14 is helping build our vision for a deep connection to the community. We want the community to identify with the Bulldogs and our games being broadcast locally helps us do that."
Calling the action for all Cable14 games will be the play by play man Reed Duthie along with colour commentators Norm Miller and Troy Izlakar:
Reed Duthie has been working as a play by play announcer since 2008 where he called Hamilton Bulldogs AHL games for Mohawk College. Since moving to Cable 14 in 2009 Reed has had the opportunity to call Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League and Allan Cup hockey as well as Ontario Football Conference and McMaster Marauders football. Reed can also be seen across North America announcing MMA on the Fight Network and Fight NOW!
Norm Miller has been involved with Cable 14's Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts for more than ten years. He has also covered both McMaster football and basketball for the network. He previously spent two seasons as the colour commentator of the OHL's Brampton Battalion as well as working in communications with the Canadian Football League and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Troy Izlakar began at Cable 14 in 2004 as a camera operator. After beginning his broadcast career at the 2007 Hamilton Brier he has since covered such events as the 2014 Yates Cup, 2014 Allan Cup, 2015 Sutherland Cup Finals and various high school football and hockey championships.
Also involved in the Cable14 home broadcasts will be game day host Laura Barney:
Laura Barney graduated from Mohawk College with a degree in Broadcast Journalism along with a post-graduate diploma in Sports Journalism from Centennial College. She has 6+ years of on-air reporting with RogersTV and TVCogeco. Laura is the former on-air host of the OHL's Brampton Battalion as well as the in-arena host for the AHL'S Hamilton Bulldogs.
