Bugs beat RiverKings 5-2

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Mudbugs welcomed Memphis to town for the fifth meeting between the two teams. The Bugs struck first as Joe Ori fed the puck to Karlis Zirnis who beat Memphis goaltender Larry Sterling.

A broken pane of glass delayed the start of the third period. The Bugs did manage to keep the offense going. Chris Gustafson skated from his own goal line then carried in to the Memphis zone, he fired a wrist shot that beat Larry Sterling blocker side. The Bugs got one more when Cam Abbott fired a puck from inside the right wing circle making it 3-0 Bugs. Dan Wildfong would tack on another on a delayed penalty, the Bugs crashed the net and Wildfong slipped a puck in for his ninth of the season.

Memphis finally got on the board in the third period when Jason Sessa scored on a 5-3 powerplay. The Mudbugs converted on the powerplay when Chris Brassard's slapshot from the right point went in, giving the Bugs a 5-1 lead. Ryan Campbell would later score a shorthanded goal, but it was too little too late as the Mudbugs carried on to 5-2 victory.
