Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Youngstown SteelHounds of the Central Hockey League would like to announce a friendly wager between the two top two teams in the CHL's Northeast Division in anticipation of tonight's Allstate BCS National Championship Game between LSU and Ohio State. The LSU Tigers, from the Mudbugs' home state of Louisiana, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, from the SteelHounds' home state of Ohio, will square off tonight at 7:00 pm from the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans for college football's greatest prize.
To celebrate the match-up, the Mudbugs and SteelHounds have agreed to the terms of a bet. If LSU wins the National Championship tonight, "Hey Fightin' Tigers" will be played at the Chevrolet Centre when the Mudbugs visit the SteelHounds on Saturday, January 19th. But if the Buckeyes win the title, Ohio State's fight song will be played at the CenturyTel Center tomorrow night when the 'Hounds play in Bossier City.
"We're thrilled to help add a little something extra to our already strong rivalry with the SteelHounds and our ongoing Northeast Division race", said Mudbugs General Manager Steve Cherwonak. "We're looking forward to hearing the SteelHounds properly acknowledge LSU's college football supremacy in Youngstown 's Chevrolet Centre on Saturday, January 19th."
" Youngstown has several ties to the big game tonight", said SteelHounds General Manager Joe Gregory. "Whether it be native son Bo Pelini or Coach Tressel, the City of Youngstown is proud to produce so many championship caliber players and coaches. Our team is looking forward to help the Buckeyes celebrate yet another Championship as "Fight the Team Across the Field" will be proudly played in the CenturyTel Center for Tuesday night's game."
Both the Buckeyes and the Tigers are trying for their second BCS National Championship in tonight's game, just as both the Mudbugs and SteelHounds will be playing for first place in the Northeast Division during tomorrow night's contest at 7:05 pm at the CenturyTel Center .
Following Tuesday night's contest, the Mudbugs will not play another home game until January 26th. In the meantime, Bossier-Shreveport will embark on its longest road trip of the season, with seven games over a 17 day span away from CenturyTel Center . So don't miss the Mudbugs vs. the Youngstown SteelHounds tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at CenturyTel Center . Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 or ticketmaster.com, or by calling the Mudbugs office at 318-752-BUGS.
