Buffalo Goes For Two In A Row In Orlando

April 10, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY)- The Buffalo Destroyers will look for their second straight win on the road as they travel south to meet the Orlando Predators Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the TD Waterhouse Centre. The game will be televised on the Empire Sports Network and simulcast on the Destroyers Radio Network.

The Destroyers are coming off their best offensive game of the season as they set season highs with 265 yards of total offense and 13 rushes for 52 yards in last week's 46-39 victory over New York. WR/DB Jarrail Jackson had a season high 22 rushing yards last week as well.

QB Chris Sanders, who made his first AFL start, did all the right things finishing with 21 completions and five touchdowns, both are the most by a Buffalo QB this season. He and OS James Bowden, who made his first start for the Destroyers, connected for three touchdowns.

"We could not have asked for more from Chris who was starting his first game in a hostile environment against one of the league's hottest teams," said Destroyers head coach Ron Selesky. "Last week, we were four for four in the red zone and six of 10 on third down conversions. We need to have that kind of efficiency this week.

Buffalo's defense will have another tough assignment this week as Orlando QB Jay Gruden is scheduled to make his return. The Destroyers have the second ranked scoring defense in the league at 43.1 points per game. They have also given up the second fewest touchdowns (55) and are currently third with a +6 turnover margin.

Buffalo will complete its three game road trip next Friday, April 18 at the Staples Center to meet the Los Angeles Avengers at 10:30 p.m. The Destroyers return home Saturday, April 26 to host the Indiana Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. at the HSBC Arena. Mini packs and group tickets are on sale now, call the Destroyers ticket office at 716-881-4444!
